Arunachal continues to witness spike in Covid-19 cases; death toll at 60

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Covid-19 case tally rose to 19,802 with detection of 169 fresh cases of infections, while the fatalities toll rose to 60 following the death of a 50-year-old woman.

Of the new positive cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 38, followed by Lower Dibang Valley at 26, Lower Subansiri and Upper Subansiri 16 each, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services. Barring 55, all the patients are asymptomatic.

According to the bulletin, a 50-year-old woman who was referred from District Hospital, Roing, expired on May 6 at DCH-Pasighat. She was suffering from diabetes mellitus and tested Covid positive through a rapid antigen test. She died due to severe pneumonia.

On a positive note, 132 patients were discharged following recovery from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 17,849. Active cases stood at 1,893.
