Army motorcycle team Tornado pays tribute to martyrs

The bold motorcycle expedition undertaken by the Tornadoes will be covering 2600 KM through the challenging terrain of northeastern states of India to pay homage to the brave hearts

Imphal: The Army Service Corp motorcycle display team “Tornadoes” reached Leimakhong on Day 11 of their Motorcycle Expedition of North Eastern States here on Wednesday.

The bold motorcycle expedition undertaken by the Tornadoes will be covering 2600 KM through the challenging terrain of northeastern states of India to pay homage to the brave hearts who valiantly fought various wars and gave supreme sacrifice of their life. 

The ASC “Tornadoes” comprising of one officer, two JCOs and sixteen Other ranks lead by Capt AS Grewal are undertaking this adventurous expedition to commemorate ASC’s 11th Reunion and 262nd Corps Day on 8 Dec 2022. These daredevils embarked upon this adventure on 1st Oct from Tezpur.

After paying homage to the brave hearts of 1971 War at Leimakhong War Memorial, the expedition was flagged off by GOC Red Shield Division for their next destination, Zakhama where they paid homage to Capt Kenguruse, MVC at his native village Nerhema. An ASC officer Capt Kenguruse was 

attached with 2 Rajputana Rifles during Kargil Operations by the Indian Army. 

As the Ghatak platoon commander, the brave heart was assigned to evict Pakistani intruders holding a machine gun post at Black Rock in Dras Sector and to capture the area. 

Without caring for his safety, Capt Kengurüse climbed barefoot, reached the top and killed two infiltrators with his rifle and other two enemies in hand-to-hand combat despite being shot in his abdomen. 

Due to his unflinching bravery, Capt Kungiruse was awarded the Mahavir Chakra, the second-highest award for bravery. 

Neiselie and Dinuo Kenguruse, the parents of Capt Kenguruse, along with his brother Atoulie Kenguruse were present at the Kenguruse War Memorial where the ASC Tornadoes team met and felicitated the family for their eternal sacrifice.
