All religious places/ places of worship have also been ordered to close for public worship. Further religious congregations/gatherings are now strictly prohibited.

Other than these, all Parks, Playgrounds, Stadiums, Gyms and yoga institutes have also been ordered to be closed with immediate effect.

However, the decision to close all tourists spots in South Andaman District all of a sudden without even given prior notice of few days has not gone down well with the tourism stakeholders, as anger is brewing among stakeholders of Andaman Tourism who have already suffered heavy losses in first and second waves of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the classes of five colleges in Andaman and Nicobar Islands namely – JNRM, TGCE, DBRAIT, ANCOL & MGGC and classes from I to XII of all management schools (Govt., Govt. Aided, Private Unaided, Local Bodies, KVs & JNVs) across Islands will remain closed with effect from today to January 31, 2022, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among students.

“Academic instructions to all the students shall continue to be made available through alternate mode by the cable TV, Education Department’s YouTube Channel ‘AN Education Dept Andaman’, All India Radio and WhatsApp Groups,” the Director of Andaman’s Education Department, Kamlesh Kumar informed the media today.

On Monday 96 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Presently there are 393 active cases of COVID-19 in A & N Islands.

Since the beginning, a total of 8246 people were tested COVID-19 positive in Andaman out of which 7724 people have recovered. 129 deaths have been reported in the first and second waves of COVID-19 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
