New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting on Friday with various heads of security and law enforcement agencies to review the functioning of the Multi Agency Centre (MAC) of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), responsible for addressing the country’s security challenges.
In his address, the Home Minister instructed the heads of security agencies and other intelligence and enforcement bodies from across the country to adopt a whole-of-government approach towards national security. He emphasized the need for greater synergy between all agencies to dismantle terror networks and their support systems, thereby effectively addressing the evolving security threats facing the nation.
While reviewing the internal security situation and the fight against terrorism, Shah urged participants to enhance their engagement with the Multi Agency Centre, transforming it into a cohesive platform that integrates all law enforcement, anti-drug, cyber security, and intelligence agencies for decisive and prompt action.
The Home Minister highlighted that MAC has earned the trust of its stakeholders and must continue to function 24/7 as a proactive platform for real-time sharing of actionable intelligence among various stakeholders, including last-mile responders.
Shah also stressed the importance of forming a team of young, technically proficient, and passionate officers from all agencies involved in national security. This team would leverage big data, AI/ML-driven analytics, and technological advancements to dismantle the terror ecosystem. He reiterated that in the face of new and emerging security challenges, responses must always be one step ahead.
The Home Minister informed the gathering that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the MAC framework is set to undergo a major technical and operational revamp to enhance its reach and effectiveness. He urged all stakeholders to support these efforts through prompt responses and aggressive follow-up on shared intelligence inputs.
