Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today flagged-off the Manipur team who will participate in the 11th SPIC MACAY International Convention. The convention will be held from 25th to 31st May, 2026, at IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal. The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), is a voluntary, non-political cultural movement that aims to introduce young people, especially students, to Indian classical music, dance, folk traditions, crafts, yoga, meditation, heritage walks, classic cinema and other aspects of Indian and world heritage.
This year’s convention will bring together young participants from across the country and abroad, making it a vibrant confluence of cultures, ideas and artistic traditions. From Manipur, a total of 18 members, including teachers and students from Assam Rifles Public Schools, Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi, and Manipur University of Culture, will participate in the convention.
During a brief interaction with the students, the Governor extended his heartfelt congratulations to them on their participation in the event. He said the convention would provide them with broader and holistic exposure to various aspects of India’s rich cultural heritage, both within the country and abroad. He advised the participants to make the most of the opportunity by gaining as much knowledge as possible and interacting with participants from different states and countries.
