ADC notifies on Shamator-Chessore by-poll in Nagaland

The Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect in the district of Tuensang and shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Government.

Kohima: The Additional Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer to the Shamator-Chessore Assembly Constituency by-election under Tuensang district of Nagaland, where polling will be held on October 30 next.

According to the official report for the by-election programme the Date of Issue of Gazette Notification 01.10.2021, Last Date of Nominations 08.10.2021, Date for Scrutiny of Nominations 11.10.2021. Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidatures 13.10.2021, Date of Poll 30.10.2021, Date of Counting 02.11.2021 and Date before which election shall be completed 05.11.2021. The Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect in the district of Tuensang and shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Government. The Model Code of Conduct shall also be applicable to the Union Government, the report said.

Official sources said that the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Tuensang B. Henok Buchem has directed all Block Level Officers under Shamator-Chessore Assembly Constituency to visit houses of the concerned electors like senior citizens, persons with disabilities and COVID-19 suspect or affected persons in their respective polling station and deliver Form 12D to the concerned electors and obtain an acknowledgement from them. In another order, the ADC Buchem has directed all the firearm owners of Shamator Sub-Division to deposit their respective firearms at the nearest Police Station on or before October 8.

Meanwhile, work distribution in view of the forthcoming by-election has also been issued to different departments in Shamator. All the Departmental, police officers, police personnel and staff under Shamator Sub-Division have been asked to be in the station on or October 5. The concerned officer-in-charge of the department has been asked to submit attendance of their respective Departments on daily basis to the Additional Deputy Commissioner. He also cautioned that action will be initiated in the event of failing to comply with the order, the report said.
