Fishery awareness programme held in Pherzawl

Pherzawl: A one-day Fishery Awareness and Certificate of Registration Programme was organised today by the District Fishery Office, Pherzawl, at Tuisen Community Hall as part of the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026.

Led by District Fishery Officer Md. Ziaur Rahman, the programme focused on creating awareness among fish farmers about various welfare schemes and initiatives of the Central and State governments aimed at supporting the fisheries sector.

Addressing the gathering, Rahman highlighted the benefits available to fish farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), including assistance for construction of new rearing ponds, renovation of existing ponds, construction of new grow-out ponds and inputs for freshwater aquaculture such as fish seeds, fingerlings and feed.

The participants were also briefed on the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY) and the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP). The session highlighted various facilities available to fish farmers, including subsidies, loans and insurance support.

As part of the programme, Fish Farmer Certificates were distributed to 65 farmers. Around 90 fish farmers attended the programme and actively participated in the awareness session.
