Chandel: Demonstrating a prompt response and steadfast commitment to humanitarian assistance, Assam Rifles swiftly rendered immediate relief following a road accident at Mombi Village Y-Junction in Chandel District, Manipur on 06 September 2026. The timely intervention provided crucial medical aid to two injured individuals and ensured the quick restoration of normal traffic movement along the vital stretch.
At approximately 1239 hours, a Tata truck laden with timber and stone boulders met with an accident at Mombi Village Y-Junction, causing injuries to the driver and a labourer. Upon receiving information, troops from the Assam Rifles Company Operating Base at Mombi immediately rushed to the site to initiate relief operations. The Assam Rifles medical team promptly evaluated both victims, administered essential first aid and stabilised their condition at the spot. Recognising the need for specialised medical care, the force arranged a civil light vehicle and facilitated their evacuation to RIMS Hospital in Imphal District for further examination and treatment.
Simultaneously, troops assisted in clearing the damaged vehicle and removing heavy stone boulders and timber from the road. This coordinated clearance effort restored smooth traffic flow at Mombi4 Village Y-Junction, preventing further distress and inconvenience to commuters.
