Kakching: Assam Rifles will facilitate a certified Commis Chef – Kitchen Production Free Course starting from October 2026 at Kakching Garrison, Headquarters 28 Sector Assam Rifles, in Kakching district, Manipur. The skill development programme is being organized in coordination with ‘The Art of Living’ and in association with IHCL (Taj Hotels), TITAN and Tata STRIVE to equip local youth with industry-oriented culinary expertise and career opportunities.
The training will be led by Chef Ramesh R. Krishnan, Executive Chef, Principal Advisor and Chief Faculty Member for the Commis Chef programme at The Art of Living, who brings over 35 years of global experience specialising in French cuisine. Designed for eligible male and female candidates aged 18 to 35 years with a minimum Class XII qualification, the course comprises 17 weeks of classroom instruction and practical kitchen training, followed by eight weeks of on-the-job training, with apprenticeship opportunities extending up to one year.
Successful trainees will receive formal certification alongside dedicated assistance for on-the-job training, apprenticeships and job placements. By imparting industry-relevant knowledge, the initiative aims to enhance employability and open pathways to sustainable livelihoods in the hospitality sector, thereby fostering self-reliance and driving the socio-economic development of Manipur.
