Chandel: A comprehensive three-month pre-recruitment training cycle is being conducted by Assam Rifles which commenced on 15 July 2026, at Shalluk village, Chandel District, Manipur, to prepare, guide, and motivate local youth aspiring to pursue a career in the Indian Armed Forces through the Territorial Army recruitment process.
The structured training programme commenced with a detailed medical examination conducted by the Regimental Medical Officer of the Assam Rifles to evaluate the medical fitness and suitability of candidates. This was followed by rigorous physical screening tests to assess stamina and overall physical endurance, alongside a written examination to evaluate academic aptitude and preparedness.
Following the initial evaluation process, 40 motivated youths—comprising 25 male and 15 female aspirants—were shortlisted. They are currently undergoing intensive guidance under the dedicated team of Assam Rifles. Youth from Shalluk and adjoining villages including Tampi, Chakpikarong, and Sajik Tampak in Chandel District are actively participating in this training to build physical fitness, discipline, and self-confidence.
This constructive capacity-building initiative has earned widespread appreciation from local residents, parents, and village authorities across Chandel District for empowering the youth towards meaningful military careers.
