Imphal: Assam Rifles observed Kargil Vijay Diwas across Manipur through veteran welfare initiatives, patriotic rallies and youth career guidance sessions organised in Churachandpur, Chandel and Tengnoupal districts on 25 and 26 July 2026. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated annually across the nation on 26 July to mark India’s triumph in the 1999 Kargil War, paying homage to the heroic deeds and sacrifices of the soldiers who defended the nation’s frontiers in high-altitude terrain. The commemorative events aimed to preserve military traditions, support veteran welfare and inspire the youth toward national service.
On 25 July 2026, Assam Rifles located at Veng organised a career guidance and leadership session at VK Tawna Senior School in Churachandpur district. The interactive session familiarised 162 attending students with various career avenues in the Indian Armed Forces, covering entry schemes, eligibility standards, selection frameworks and military training academies. An official who is a domain expert in Quality Management spoke to the students about leadership, discipline and professional ethics. The interaction provided clarity on competitive examination strategies and encouraged young minds to consider defense careers.
On 26 July 2026, commemorative activities were held by Assam Rifles in Modi in Chandel district and Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal district. At Modi, Chandel district, the ceremony opened with a National Flag hoisting and a Pipe Band display. The gathering brought together 288 members of the military veteran community, comprising 240 Ex-Servicemen, 3 Veer Naris and 45 widows, alongside Assam Rifles personnel. Special felicitations were presented to the families of fallen soldiers in recognition of their resilience. As part of a targeted welfare initiative, one beneficiary was provided with a water pump and pipeline installation to resolve domestic water availability issues at her residence. The event also featured a friendly football match between Ex-Servicemen and security forces personnel to foster camaraderie.
Simultaneously at Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles organised a Tiranga Rally on 26 July 2026 to mark the occasion. The rally saw the participation of 37 students alongside 26 security personnel, who marched with the National Flag while chanting patriotic slogans to uphold national unity and honor the heroes of the 1999 war.
