3-Day Census 2027 training begins in Churachandpur

Churachandpur: A 3-day “Training of Field Trainers (FTs)” for Phase-I of Census- 2027 House Listing and Housing Census for Churachandpur and Pherzawl Districts was inaugurated today at the District Planning and Research Centre, Mini- Secretariat, Tuibong, Churachandpur. The training programme was organised by the District Administration, Churachandpur.

The inauguration program was attended by Principal Census Officer/DC Churachandpur, Krishna Kumar, IAS, Principal Census Officer/DC, Pherzawl, Anunay Anand, IAS, SeiminthangLenthang, District Census Officer/ADC, Churachandpur and ZosanglurJoute, District Census Officer/ADC, Pherzawl, Smt. Teresa Tangpua, SDC/BO, DC Office, along with other officials of the district, Field Trainers and Technical Assistants of the Census operations in Churachandpur District.

Shri Yasser Khan, Joint Secretary, Agriculture Department and Md Zakir Hussain, Statistical Investigator Grade-II, Directorate of Census Operations, Manipur were also attended as Master Trainers and facilitated by the dignitaries present.

In his address at the inaugural function, Principal Census Officer/DC, Churachandpur Krishna Kumar, IAS, stated that the Census is a vital exercise for nation building. The data collected will guide both the State and Central Governments in planning for health, education, and development for the next 10 years. He urged all Field trainers to take the training seriously and to clear all doubts with the Master Trainers. The DC informed that the Field Trainers will willimpart training to Supervisors and Enumerators in the coming days who will be engaged in the field.

Addressing the trainees, Principal Census Officer/DC, Pherzawl, Anunay Anand, IAS,   highlighted that the Census data will remain for the next decade and will form the basis of all policy making at district, state and national levels. He called upon the trainees to be diligent and ensure accuracy, as this work will shape development policies for the coming years.

On the first day of training session, the Master Trainers trained the Field Trainers on the Introduction and Legal provisions of Census 2027, methodology for training Enumerators and Supervisors, key concepts and definitions, ground truthing of House Listing Block boundaries, preparation of layout maps, and a comprehensive overview of the HLO Mobile Application. The Master Trainers also informed that Phase-1 of Census 2027 will focus on house listing and will be conducted largely through a digital mobile application. They appealed to the public to extend full cooperation and provide accurate information when enumerators visit. A total of 18 Field Trainers (FTs) attended during the program.

The objective of the 3-day training is to equip Field Trainers with the requisite knowledge, technical skills and field exposure to enable them to effectively train field functionaries for the smooth and error-free conduct of Census 2027 Phase-I in both districts.
