Moreh: Reaffirming their unwavering commitment towards building a healthier and drug-free society, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Moreh Youth Club, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June 2026 at the HTC Conference Hall, Moreh. The event served as a powerful platform to spread awareness about the devastating impact of substance abuse and the collective responsibility of society in combating the menace.
The awareness programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 75 local residents, including drug addiction affected persons from Adullam Rehab center, HOPE Rehab center, youth and community members. Through engaging discussions and interactive sessions, participants were sensitised to the social, psychological and economic consequences of drug abuse while highlighting the importance of prevention, rehabilitation and community vigilance. Speakers underscored the need for united action by civil society, families and law enforcement agencies to curb illicit trafficking and protect the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics.
The programme encouraged participants to become ambassadors of change by promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering a culture of responsibility and resilience. The event concluded with a renewed pledge by Assam Rifles and the Moreh Youth Club to continue working hand in hand with the local community to eliminate the scourge of drugs.
