Meeting held in Pherzawl; Boxing Academy inaugurated to boost youth development

Pherawl: A District Level Officers (DLO) Meeting-cum-Public Interaction was convened today at the Pherzawl Community Hall, calling for greater public participation and coordinated efforts among stakeholders to accelerate development in Pherzawl district.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Anunay Anand, IAS, emphasized the need for targeted interventions to overcome challenges related to infrastructure, economic opportunities, and social services in the district, including limited administrative presence. He stressed the need for officials and citizens alike to engage more actively with ground realities to ensure effective governance.

He urged active public involvement, especially during the ongoing Census and SIR, to ensure accurate representation and planning for the district’s future development. He also appealed to village authorities and civil society organisations to work together beyond political differences, acting as a bridge between the administration and the people.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Lalboi Haokip, MPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zousanglur Joute, district-level officers, village authorities, and members of the public.

In a parallel development, the Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated a Boxing Academy at Indoor Hall in Parbung in the presence of PC Lalremruata, DYASO.  The facility has been established with support from SAI Khelo India and the Youth Affairs and Sports Department. Highlighting the importance of sports in youth development, he noted that boxing not only provides physical fitness but also instills discipline, confidence, and self-defense skills among young people. He encouraged the district’s youth to make full use of the new academy as a platform for personal growth and sporting excellence.

The twin initiatives reflect the district administration’s commitment to inclusive development and youth empowerment in Pherzawl.
