Shillong: The Education Minister, Government of Meghalaya Lahkmen Rymbui on 12 June 2026, attended the valedictory ceremony of the student delegation from Telangana as the Chief Guest at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong. The programme was organised under a collaborative initiative between the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal and IIM Shillong.
Addressing the gathering, the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui highlighted the significance of national integration, mutual respect, and cultural exchange among the youth of India. He stated that India’s diversity, reflected through its numerous languages, traditions, cultures, and lifestyles, serves as a source of strength and unity.
He said that the delegates had the opportunity to experience Meghalaya first-hand and gain an understanding of its people, culture, and traditions. He emphasised that every region of the country contributes to India’s collective identity and that the spirit of unity among Indians remains stronger than all differences.
Speaking on the values of humanity and responsible citizenship, Rymbui said that beyond all distinctions, the foremost identity of every individual is that of being a human being. He urged the students to carry this message forward and contribute positively to society, their communities, and the nation.
He also noted that Indians residing across the world continue to maintain a strong bond with their homeland and contribute towards the country’s progress. Encouraging the delegates to become ambassadors of Meghalaya and the North East, he urged them to share their experiences and promote greater understanding of the region among their peers and communities.
Rymbui described the exchange programme as a valuable opportunity for the students to experience different cultures, learn from one another, and develop lasting friendships. He appreciated the efforts of IIM Shillong, NIT Warangal, faculty members, organisers, and support staff for creating an enriching environment for the participants.
Highlighting Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and traditions, the Minister encouraged the delegates to cherish the memories and lessons gained during their stay and continue building bridges of friendship and understanding across regions.
“Let us live as brothers and sisters. Let us learn from one another, respect one another, and carry a sense of duty towards humanity and society. Together, we can build a stronger and more united India,” the Minister said.
The ceremony was attended by officials, faculty members, and nodal officers from both IIM Shillong and NIT Warangal, along with student delegates from Telangana who participated in the educational and cultural exchange programme.
The programme concluded with the distribution of valedictory certificates by the Education Minister to the participating delegates, recognising their successful completion of the exchange programme.
