Churachandpur: On 23 May 2026, Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive orientation programme for approximately 130 NCC cadets of the Army Wing and Air Wing from Rayburn College, Khuga, Churachandpur District. The initiative was designed to instil discipline, leadership and awareness about the Armed Forces, while offering cadets practical exposure and guidance. 

The programme began with an equipment display, where cadets were introduced to the operational requirements of various items, sparking keen interest and curiosity. This was followed by an orientation session delivered by officials and troops, emphasising the values of discipline, teamwork, leadership and the diverse career opportunities available in the Armed Forces. 

A practical demonstration on map reading provided cadets with essential navigation techniques and fieldcraft skills, enhancing their understanding of ground orientation and operational planning. The event also featured an interactive session, enabling cadets to engage directly with the personnel, seek guidance and gain first-hand insights into military life and ethos. 

The programme concluded with a shared meal, marking the end of a well-structured and enriching day. The orientation proved to be a valuable platform for inspiring and educating young cadets, significantly boosting their confidence, awareness and interest in pursuing a disciplined and service-oriented career.
