Imphal: In a continued effort to promote health, wellness and community engagement, Assam Rifles organised the observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga at Lilong Haoreibi Secondary School, Thoubal District, Manipur on 12 May 2026. The event formed part of the Government’s 100-day run-up to International Day of Yoga 2026 and witnessed enthusiastic participation by students of Classes 6 to 10, teaching staff, Assam Rifles personnel and members of the local community.
The programme commenced with a formal inauguration by Assam Rifles personnel, followed by reflections on the significance of International Day of Yoga and the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life for physical and mental well-being. A structured yoga session was conducted by a certified instructor facilitated by Assam Rifles. Participants actively engaged in warm-up exercises, Surya Namaskar and a series of asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana and Shavasana, concluding with Anulom Vilom Pranayama for stress relief and mental clarity.
The collective participation of students, faculty and Assam Rifles personnel was widely appreciated, with the Principal of Lilong Haoreibi Secondary School expressing gratitude for the initiative that motivated students towards a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Yoga literature and awareness material were distributed amongst the students, who pledged to adopt yoga as part of everyday life. The event concluded with a group photograph capturing the spirit of unity and wellness shared by all attendees.
