Imphal: Under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), a comprehensive Ex-Servicemen Outreach Drive was conducted at Kakching on 08 May 2026. The initiative was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bonds with veterans and to address their welfare concerns in a meaningful and inclusive manner.
The event was graced by Major General Gaurav Sharma, SC, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 59 Ex-Servicemen and 12 Veer Naaris belonging to Assam Rifles and the Indian Army. The gathering provided a dedicated platform for veterans and their families to raise issues related to welfare, pension, resettlement and other support mechanisms. It also served to create awareness about government schemes and assistance programmes available for Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naaris.
During the interaction, Major General Gaurav Sharma engaged closely with the participants, listening to their concerns and assuring cooperation towards timely resolution of grievances. Assam Rifles personnel present at the event also discussed matters pertaining to pension anomalies, documentation requirements, healthcare facilities and educational benefits for dependents. The open and cordial environment encouraged constructive dialogue and ensured that the voices of veterans and their families were heard with respect and empathy.
The outreach drive not only addressed immediate welfare concerns but also reinforced the enduring bond between Assam Rifles and its extended fraternity.
