Shillong: Nongsder SSA LP School marked its Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of service in the field of education with a vibrant and well-attended programme.

There’s a small but important error—“in the present of” should be “in the presence of.” Also, the sentence flows better with slight punctuation adjustments. Here’s the corrected version:

The event was graced by the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Lahkmen Rymbui, in the presence of local MDC Shemborlang Rynjah, the SDSEO, and the SDO of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, along with the Headmistress, teachers, parents, stakeholders, and students.

The programme began with a historical account shared by the Headman of Nongsder village, which highlighted that the school was established in 1976 by a Member of the District Council. Initially sponsored by the District Council, the school started with just 30 students and one teacher. Over the years, it has grown steadily and now has 77 students and two teachers, functioning under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan framework.

Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui paid tribute to the founders and early contributors who laid the foundation of the institution. He also acknowledged the presence of the first teacher, describing it as a significant and emotional moment for the school community.

The Minister encouraged students to work hard and develop a positive mindset from an early age. He stressed that success should not be limited to government employment and highlighted the importance of skill development. Referring to the government’s Community Skills Integrated Learning initiative, he urged students, especially those from rural backgrounds, to take advantage of such programmes and other schemes introduced to empower youth.

He also called upon parents to play an active role in guiding their children by encouraging them to learn practical skills and values from everyday life.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the school authorities, the Minister assured the School Management Committee that further discussions would be held to address priority needs and extend necessary support.

He further urged all stakeholders to make the most of the opportunities provided by both the State and Central Governments and extended his best wishes for a successful Jubilee year.

Other speakers at the event emphasized the importance of education and community participation, while the school’s first teacher shared her experiences, adding an emotional touch to the celebration.

The programme also featured colourful cultural performances by students, making the Golden Jubilee celebration a memorable occasion for the entire community.
