Imphal: Acting on precise intelligence, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police led to the successful apprehension of an overground worker (OGW) associated with the United National Liberation Front (Pambei). The operation, conducted in the Hatta Golapati area of Imphal East district, also resulted in the recovery of a four-wheeler that had been forcefully seized from its owner.
Intelligence reports indicated the presence of armed OGWs of the UNLF (P) in the area, linking the individual to activities such as extortion, vehicle hijacking, and intimidation within Imphal town. Acting swiftly, the joint team launched a targeted search operation, ultimately apprehending the suspect in the Khomidok area of Keirang, Imphal East.
The arrested individual has been handed over to Imphal East Police for further investigation. The stolen vehicle was also recovered during the operation, underscoring the effectiveness of the coordinated effort.
This operation is part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing collaboration with local law enforcement to combat insurgent and criminal elements, maintain peace, and restore normalcy in the region.
