Shillong: The five-day autumn session of the Meghalaya Assembly is scheduled to begin from September 15, Assembly Speaker, Thomas Sangma said on Wednesday.
Sangma said three days have been allotted for the treasury and two for the opposition.
When asked why only a five-day session, the Speaker said the Business Advisory Committee has decided it.
During the upcoming session, the opposition Congress, Trinamool Congress, and especially the Voice of the People Party have raised no issues that might trouble the National People’s Party (NPP)-led government with its massive strength in the house.
However, the VPP have been raising several issues and most recently the party sought answers from the government as to how the ground floor of the Kolkata Meghalaya house was allotted to a relative of a cabinet minister.
The party had questioned the tendering process.
