FIR filed against JNU professors for concocting Manipur history

The FIR was filed by Y. Vicisy Shimray of New Canaan Village, Ukhrul District Manipur; Sapam Cha Jadumani of Pishumthong Olnam Leikai, Imphal West and Dr. K. Heera Kabui of Namdulong, Kabo Leikai, Impha East.

Imphal: The Federation of Haomee, a conglomerate of indigenous people of Manipur, has lodged an FIR at Imphal West police station against two teachers of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi and a retired Army officer for writing a concocted history on Manipur.

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Assistant Professor Jangkhomang Guite of the Centre for Historical Studies and Assistant Professor Thongkhalal Haokip of the Centre for the study of Law and Governance, who are the editors of the Anglo-Kuki War, 1917-1919 and Retd. Col (Dr) Vijay Chenji, who authored the book – The Anglo-Kuki war, 1917-1919. 

The FIR accused that the book – The Anglo-Kuki War 1917-1919, edited by the above duo was written without any factual basis and  evidence claimed the armed Kuki-Rebellion (1917-1919) as Anglo-Kuki War, thus making it a concocted fictional war that is being falsely disseminated widely creating an environment against public tranquility and peace in the state.

Asst. Prof Guite and Asst. Prof Haokip have been charged with FIR 120/121/123/153-A/200/120-8 IPC.

The FIR was filed by Y. Vicisy Shimray of New Canaan Village, Ukhrul District Manipur; Sapam Cha Jadumani of Pishumthong Olnam Leikai, Imphal West and Dr. K. Heera Kabui of Namdulong, Kabo Leikai, Impha East. 

The FIR was filed under the offence/Section, Concealing design to Commit offence, Waging war against the Government of India, concealing with intent to facilitate design to wage war, promoting enmity between different groups, using as true such declaration knowing it to be false with criminal conspiracy.  With agency inputs
