Odisha: Congress burns effigies of PM Modi over Manipur issue

They urged the President to intervene in the matter and impose President rule in Manipur

Sambalpur: Hundreds of members of the Congress party on Sunday held a rally here in protest against the silence of the Union government on the Manipur issue. 

The members of the Sambalpur district Congress came in a vast procession from the Congress office to Gole Bazar Chowk and burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Saha and Women and Child development Minister Smruti Irani in protest against their silence as well as double standards on the Manipur issue.

The District Congress President A A Khan said the these Ministers ‘’ make the earth upside down when small incidents take place in non BJP states. But this trio are now clarifying that they have arrested four persons involved in the crime,” in Manipur. This shows their real character, Asaf said.

And to counter the Manipur issue, BJP’s IT cell is manufacturing computerised videos of West Bengal and Rajasthan and their supporters are spreading it, Sutapa Mitra, from the women’s wing alleged.

“We demand the resignation or removal of the Manipur Chief Minister and demand the imposition of President’s rule in Manipur to bring back normalcy. We further demand justice for the wife of the Kargil Hero and the other lady,” said Aswini Guru, the ex MLA of Sambalpur.

At Bhubaneswar, the members of the ST, SC ,OBC ,Minorities Joint action committee on Sunday held a demonstration in front of the state Assembly in protest against the violence and gang rape of tribal women in Manipur.

They urged the President to intervene in the matter and impose President rule in Manipur .
