Imphal: Manipur Police have so far arrested six people, including a juvenile, for their alleged involvement in parading two women naked by a mob in B Phainom village on May 4.
The State Police are making all-out efforts to apprehend the remaining culprits by conducting raids at many suspected hideouts, according to a police statement.
Meanwhile, students of TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal, have urged the government on Saturday to trace the two school students —a girl and a boy, residents of Imphal.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh had earlier stated that there are a large number of cases of killings, missing cases, and harassment so far after the Manipur crisis started at Churachandpur after a rally on May 3. So far, about 145 deaths have been confirmed. A former scribe identified as Somorendra was among the missing.
Students of T.G. Higher Secondary Girls School here, addressing the media said a classmate was last seen on July 6. They informed that the mobile phone of the girl was traced to be used by a person at Lamdan in Churachandpur district.
Meanwhile, the state police and Central forces conducted search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas. The situation was still tense in some parts of Imphal.
Police said 396 people were detained in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
As the National highway remains blocked at Kangpokpi, efforts are on to bring to Manipur about 839 vehicles on NH-37 and 215 vehicles on NH-2 with essential items.
