Imphal: The Delhi Manipuri Society (DeMas) Thursday condemned the horrific video that showed two Manipuri women being paraded naked by a large mob in Manipur.
The alleged incident happened on May 4, 2023, somewhere in a village in Kangpokpi district.
Stating that they always respect our women with dignity and honour, the DeMas asked the state government to immediately take swift and punitive action against those whosoever committed the crime against the two women.
The Society said that many Manipuris have brought international fame for their bravery and sacrifice for the betterment of society. The incident, however, has brought them shame in front of the entire world, it said in a statement.
The Society also appealed to all the CSOs working for both Kukis and Meiteis to sit across the table and bring an end to this unwarranted violence.
The violence has caused enough hardship to all the people be it students, the business community, civilians and the economy, it added.
