Kuki aggression against Meeteis continues in Manipur; four more suffer bullet injuries

Imphal: Despite the claims of normalcy returning in the state, the aggression of Kukis against the Meeteis continued in Manipur. 

At least three people sustained bullet injuries at Moidangpok village in Imphal West district on Sunday evening. 

Tangjam Deepak, 32, Khangembam Kiran, 32; and Yengkhom Naoton, 28 of Moidangpok village, got injured when suspected Kuki miscreants opened fire at around 10.30 p.m. on Sunday.

They suffered multiple bullet injuries. They are currently admitted at the Regional Institution of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment. They are out of danger, the police said.

On the same day, one villager, N. Bobbit Singh, sustained injuries in a gunfight between Kuki and Meetei villagers at Singda Kadangban, on the border of Imphal West and Kangpokpi district. 

Meanwhile, fresh tension erupted in the Imphal valley on Monday when suspected Meeties set on fire a few houses belonging to tribal people at New Checkon in Imphal East. Security forces opened blank fire to control the mob, which took place around 2 p.m.
