Imphal: On her 66th birthday on Monday, the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, decided to spend the day with senior citizens at the Old Age Home Mongshangei, Imphal West.
The governor inquired about the grievances they had.
She thanked the All Manipur Senior Citizens Welfare Association for their yeoman’s service towards elderly people in society and wished the old-aged people a happy and healthy life.
The governor also donated cash of Rs 1 lakh, rice, dal, fruits, and eatables to the home. She also inspected the existing infrastructure of the home.
Earlier, a representative of the association highlighted the grievances faced by the people in the home. They also urged the Governor to give necessary instructions to the concerned department to mend the approach road leading to the home from the main road.
They also thanked the governor for being the first ever governor to visit the home and wished her a happy, healthy, and prosperous life ahead.
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and several other leaders greeted the Manipur Governor on her birthday.
“Best wishes to Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Sushri @AnusuiyaUikey ji on the occasion of her birthday,” the Chief Minister tweeted, and added that “may you be blessed with years of good health and strength, and continue to serve the people with prosperity and progress.
