Tura: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) Chief, Conrad Sangma on Monday asked its ally BJP not to spread misinformation on the state government’s flagship programmes, FOCUS and FOCUS+.
” The BJP had no option or issue to counter the NPP and was only indulging in cheap tactics,” Sangma said at an election meeting at Machangpani under Dalu Constituency to drum up support for party candidate Brening A. Sangma.
The NPP leader called upon the BJP not to carry out a misinformation campaign in Garo hills by telling the people that FOCUS and FOCUS + scheme is from the Centre.
The Chief Minister informed that PM Kisan was a different programme and could not be implemented in the State because most farmers do not own land in the State.
Claiming that the wave of NPP across the State is very strong, Sangma asked the electorates of the State not to waste their vote on any other political parties and vote for NPP.
“Political wind for 2023 is sweeping the entire State, the voice of the people is clear and the NPP is heading for the absolute majority”, he said.
The Chief Minister said that BJP will not be able to make any impact in the ensuing election as the party will not even win more than two seats.
During the event, many from BJP including sitting MDC Dhormonath Sangma also formally joined the NPP.
