Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Wednesday approved Tourism policy 2023, State Organic and Natural Farming Policy, Meghalaya Advertisement Policy 2023, Drug Reduction and Elimination and Action Plan.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the new Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2023 is aimed at ensuring a sustainable livelihood for the people of the state.
“The tourism policy will give shape and structure to adapt to the necessary changes required to boost the sector and will into aspects of sustainability,” he said.
Sangma said the tourism policy will look into sustainable aspects to ensure employment generation and entrepreneurship, and use of technology to promote tourism in the state.
“To achieve these goals certain areas need to be focused upon such as creating proper infrastructure like roads, public utilities, better circuits, improving capacity, promotion and safety of tourists,” the Chief Minister said.
Sangma said the Cabinet also approved the Meghalaya State Organic & Farming Policy 2023 to further our efforts towards Organic Farming in Meghalaya. The Policy will streamline our plan of action and will look into aspects of organic certification of produce, he said.
In its endeavour towards Drugs Free Meghalaya, Cabinet also gave its approval to the Drug Reduction Elimination & Action Mission (DREAM).
“DREAM is our goal to take up the issues related drug and substance abuse & will incorporate aspects of Rehabilitation, Counselling, Sensitisation,” the Chief Minister said.
