Hyderabad:After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, Christmas, commemorating the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety in Hyderabad and its twin Secunderabad on Sunday.

Well-attended Midnight mass at the tastefully decorated and illuminated churches on the Christmas eve last night heralded the festivities.

Soon after, the mass joyous scenes were seen with people including other religionists greeting each other a ‘Merry Christmas’.

Carol singing echoed from all major churches in the twin cities at the start of the mass.

Christian households were tastefully decorated with the idols of Santa Claus and Christmas trees adoring the rooms and the X Mass star placed in the front yards.

Shops selling decorative items, garments and cakes did brisk business in view of the festival.
