Shillong: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met family members of the victims of Mukroh firing incident and promised not to rest until justice is served.
Five tribal Pnar villagers were killed in Assam Police firing on November 22 at Mukroh village in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia hills district.
“Don’t worry; we are with the people of Mukroh. We will fight tooth and nail to ensure that the family members get justice for the barbaric incident,” the TMC supremo said.
Banerjee also extended an ex-gratia support of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the victims.
The TMC also instructed her party members to stand by the families and fight for the due deliveryof justice.
Former Meghalaya Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, former Assembly Speaker, Charles Pyngrope and TMC national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee were present while the TMC supremo interacted with the victims of Mukroh firing incident.
