Shillong: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Spokesperson, Saket Gokhale on Saturday lodged a police complaint against Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong for describing him as a “psycho”.
In a complaint to the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills district, Sylvester Nongtnger, Gokhale described him as a “public figure” who has a “stellar reputation”.
“By insinuating that the mental state of the undersigned (Saket Gokhale) is improper, the accused (Tynsong) has committed criminal defamation against the undersigned which is liable for prosecution under section 499 of the IPC,” the TMC spokesperson said.
Gokhale also requested the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills district to immediately register a complaint under section 499 of the IPC against Tynsong for criminal defamation and to furnish an acknowledgment to him.
Reacting to Gokhale’s accusation of financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 632 crore in the Meghalaya Ecotourism Infrastructure Development Project under the Meghalayan Age Ltd, Tynsong had told reporters: “With due respect, he (Saket Gokhale) seems to be a psycho and this is just to malign the image of the Meghalaya government.”
