Imphal: MoS for External Affairs and Education, Government of India, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh Friday released a book on ‘ Rani Gaidinliu, legendary freedom fighter from the North East’ written by Som Kamei member of the Indian Postal Services at a function held at TRC Kalum Kai, Chingmeirong, Imphal.
Speaking as the chief guest at the function, Dr.R.K Ranjan Singh appealed to the gathering to purchase this book and thoroughly digest and feel the taste of the book. Rani Gaidinliu is certainly one of the freedom fighters linked with the Indian freedom movement even though many in India are not aware of her. She is one of the icons from North East India, particularly from the Tamenglong district of Manipur, he added.
Dr. R.K Ranjan further said that it is very important to study and research what is written in the book so that people will know how much Manipur had contributed during the Indian freedom struggle.
Among others, MLA, Chairman of Hill Area Committee, Manipur, Dinganglung Gangmei and Prof. N. Joykumar Singh also attended the book releasing function as guest of honour and president respectively.
