New Delhi: Three soldiers lost their lives as the Indian Army foiled an early morning terror attack on Thursday at the Rajouri base and brought down two terrorists, officials said.

The terrorists tried to sneak into an Indian Army post in Pargal at 3.30 am in the dark. They were challenged by the sentry and an exchange of fire took place.

Five soldiers suffered injuries in the attack and three of them succumbed.

Security officials have cordoned off the area and additional forces have been dispatched for a search operation.

Security forces were on high alert in Rajouri and Poonch districts following intelligence inputs of suspicious movement in the two districts, sources said.

Many areas in Darhal of Rajouri were under combing operation and deployment of forces was increased following the inputs, ahead of Independence Day.
