Tripura launches to serve breakfast in 822 schools

As of now, over 2.48 lakh students in the primary level and 1.52 lakh students in the upper primary have been getting nutrition support in the schools, officials added.

Agartala: To bring more children into the school Tripura government has launched a new initiative to serve breakfast among the primary and pre-primary level students of the Dhalai district on an experiment basis.

The officials here on Tuesday said in order to implement the National Education Policy 2020 along with a mid-day meal for students, the state government has arranged one daily breakfast as a pilot project in aspirational district Dhalai from Monday.

In a statement department said, the morning nutrition (breakfast) menu chart includes one boiled egg on Monday, two bananas on Tuesday, seasonal fruits or 150 ml milk on Wednesday, two pieces of banana on Thursday, one boiled egg on Friday, and seasonal fruits or 150 ml milk on Saturday to each of the students.

In the first two days breakfast was distributed to 84.70% of children out of 51,754 in 822 schools in the district, the officials claimed and added it will enhance the nutritional status of primary level students, which will in turn increase attendance and attract them to the school.

Under Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) scheme, all the government, government-aided schools, and Madrassa in Tripura are provided with mid-day meals for the students of pre-primary to class VIII.
As of now, over 2.48 lakh students in the primary level and 1.52 lakh students in the upper primary have been getting nutrition support in the schools, officials added.
