New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for reportedly awarding contract to produce wheels for Vande Bharat trains to a Chinese company.
“One of the biggest railways wheels factory is in Yelahanka in Bengaluru. Instead of developing that, we are sourcing them from the Chinese? ‘Vande Bharat trains’ or ‘Vande China trains’?,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala wrote in a tweet along with a report which claimed Railways awarded a tender to produce 39,000 wheels to a Chinese company.
Surjewala also asked why Karnataka Chief Minister BS Bommai and Union Ministers from the state were “mum” over the issue.
The Congress party had earlier attacked the ruling BJP over issues relating to China, and also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over them.
