Sikkim-Arunachal Tourism Exchange Program begins

The Rural Tourism Exchange Program, organised by Lungla Tourism under the guidance of local MLA Jambey Tashi, will focus on strengthening Homestays in the area with resource persons being drawn from Sikkim.

Itanagar: The weeklong Rural Tourism Exchange Program between Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh started on Tuesday with an introductory and briefing session held at Zomkhang Hall, Lungla in Tawang district, official sources said.

The Rural Tourism Exchange Program, organised by Lungla Tourism under the guidance of local MLA Jambey Tashi, will focus on strengthening Homestays in the area with resource persons being drawn from Sikkim. 

The resource persons will stay in various Homestays and impart practical training to the registered Homestay owners.

The exchange program, which will culminate on May 22, is in continuation of the two-day workshop on Homestay, Photography and Birding held at New Lungla last month.

Besides the resource persons from Chalamthang Tourism Development Committee, Sikkim, the inaugural session was attended by Lungla ADC Tashi Dhondup, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) North East Chapter chairman Oken Tayeng, Jemeithang CO Hibu Dindie, and Homestay owners of Jemeithang and Lungla circles, sources added.
