Half of UP ministers have criminal cases, 87% are crorepati

The minister with the highest declared total assets is Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh from Tiloi constituency with assets worth Rs. 58.07 crores.

New Delhi: Almost half of Uttar Pradesh’s newly sworn in ministers have criminal cases against them, while 87 percent are crorepatis, a report that analysed their self work affidavits said.

As per a report by Association for Democratic Reforms, 22 (49 percent) ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves. 20 (44 percent) ministers have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

Out of the 45 ministers analysed, 39 (87 percent) are crorepatis. The average assets of 45 ministers analysed is Rs 9 crores.

The minister with the highest declared total assets is Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh from Tiloi constituency with assets worth Rs. 58.07 crores. Around 80 percent Ministers (36) have educational qualification graduate or above, while 20 percent (9) ministers have declared their educational qualification to be between 8th and 12th standard.

The report also said 20 (44 percent) ministers have declared their age to be between 30 and 50 years while 25 (56 percent) ministers have declared their age to be between 51 and 70 years. Out of 45 ministers analysed, 5 (11 percent) are women.

Yogi Adityanath’s new 52–member cabinet has 21 upper caste ministers, 20 OBCs, nine Dalits, one Sikh and one Muslim. The new Cabinet, including CM Adityanath was sworn in by Governor Anandiben Patel on Friday.
