Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has decided that visitors from four states– Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat– will have to produce an RT-PCR result stating they are negative for Covid-19 to enter the desert state.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s office said in a statement that rising Covid-19 cases in the neighbouring states necessitated the latest move.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the CM, it added.

A COVID-19 negative report from reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) taken up to 72 hours prior to entering Rajasthan is mandatory for the people from these states.

The statement also said the COVID-19 vaccination drive is going on at a good pace in the state but there is a need to accelerate it.

The rule is also applicable to visitors from Maharashtra and Kerala which was notified earlier.
