Agartala: As Covid19 cases came down to zero over the past few days, Tripura government on Friday notified withdrawal of restrictions and on arrival testing at airport and railway stations from March 16 next.

Tripura government had earlier relaxed the Covid restrictions following the fall in infection rate and improvement in overall situation from the middle of the last month.

Meantime, two big political gatherings– one each of home minister Amit Shah and CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechuri, were held in the city but there was no spike in Covid infection.

The schools, colleges and universities have been opened with full capacity and life has returned to normal for last one month, which convinced the administration to lift all Covid related restrictions.

However, wearing of face and nose masks in crowds and sanitising of hands have been advised for personal safety and maintaining hygiene, a health official said here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in a notification Director of family welfare and preventive medicine on Friday stated that, “Considering the recent trend of Covid-19 it is decided to withdraw screening and testing of all passengers at entry point through MBB airport, Churaibari checkpost, integrated Checkposts at Indo-Bangladesh border and railway stations from March 16 onwards until further order.”
