Agartala: Tripura state President of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Rupam Kar (25) has been produced before the court today seeking police remand to dig out the job rackets in different government departments and public enterprises who was arrested yesterday in cheating cases.
A Crime Branch team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Das conducted a surprise raid at his house in Bardowali in connection with a specific case of forgery lodged with West Agartala police station. He allegedly took a huge amount of cash from job aspirants assuring them of employing ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation and licence of foreign liquor shops.
Police seized forged public documents, rubber stamps of the officers of various public enterprises, a computer, and a printer from his possession.
According to police, the seized gadgets were used to create fake foreign liquor licenses, petrol pump allotment, job offer letters etc to earn money by cheating people.
Police said the investigation was started following a specific complaint lodged by Superintendent of Excise Sabyasachi Singh recently.
According to the report, one Tapan Saha of North Badharghat had submitted fake documents created by Rupam in the exercise department which were later found forged and subsequently a police complaint was lodged to track the fraudsters.
Police claimed that the accused has admitted the crime but need to dig out the entire racket.
