BSF seizes 27 kg Ganja, prohibited cough syrup near Indo-B’sh border

The seized narcotic items have been handed over to the local police station for further legal action.

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 7,400 bottles of cough syrup and 27 kilograms of Ganja from a house near Indo-Bangladesh border in Coochbehar district of West Bengal, officials said.

“On specific intelligence input, a special joint operation party…carried out search operation in bordering Village- Golenahati, District- Coochbehar(WB) on Indo-Bangladesh border and searched the house of an Indian national namely Saibul Islam.

During the search operation, the above joint operation party seized 7,400 bottles of prohibited cough syrup worth Rs 14 lakhs and 27 Kgs Ganja from the house of the above Indian national. These narcotic items were stored in the house for smuggling purposes from India to Bangladesh,” statement from the BSF said.

The seized narcotic items have been handed over to the local police station for further legal action.
