Gangtok: While the mercury has been dipping down in plains to below 3 degrees celsius or 4, the Himalayan region is not spared.
Western Disturbance has already passed over Sikkim. ‘On 25 December, preceded by 24th Sikkim is expecting Snowfall, at higher reaches of North Sikkim and of course East Sikkim, as per the forecast of India Meteorological Department.
This would be alluring tourists. 29th December will see another snowfall welcoming the new year 2022′ said Dr Gopinath Raha, Director, IMD, Gangtok here today.’ Today Gangtok recorded this season’s (October-December) lowest temperature 4.1-degree celsius against its ever recorded seasonal minimum temperature of 01.7 degrees celsius which was recorded on 28th December 1985, said, Dr Raha.
