Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday met Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma here on the inter-state border issue.
After today’s meeting, Meghalaya’s Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong said both sides had a “productive” and “good” meeting.“We have taken a decision that the regional committees formed by both the states will submit their respective reports to their CMs by December 31. After that both the CMs will meet again and by January 15 we hope to come to a certain understanding on some points of dispute if not all the six points which have been taken up on in the first phase,” Tynsong said.
Both the governments had decided to focus on six of twelve areas of dispute in the first phase.
The six areas are Tarabari, Gizang, Boklapara, Pillangkata, Ratacherra and Hahim. Regional committees headed by ministers have been formed by both states to conduct joint visits to the areas. Meghalaya has also conducted drone survey of the areas.
Sarma is scheduled to fly to Delhi tomorrow to hold a meeting with his Nagaland counterpart Neiphiu Rio on the same issue.
