Guwahati: The Winter Session of the Assam Assembly began today with opposition parties bracing themselves to corner the ruling BJP government on issues ranging from price rise to cattle protection bill.
The 5-day session of the Assam Assembly starting on December 20 will conclude on December 24, 2021.
The BJP government is all set to bring amendments to the Cattle Preservation Bill 2021. The government has decided to bring amendments to the cattle preservation bill after it faced criticisms from the opposition parties and other organisations.
The bills, which will be introduced in the Winter Session include the Assam Co-operative societies amendment bill 2021, the Sonowal Kachari autonomous council amendment bill 2021, the Deori autonomous council amendment bill 2021 and the Assam tribal development authority (repeal) bill 2021.
Moreover, a bill relating to the formation of a separate recruitment commission is also likely to be placed in the assembly.
