Noted journalist Vinod Dua passes away in Delhi

In 2008, the then Manmohan Singh government honoured him with Padma Shri.

New Delhi: Noted journalist Vinod Dua passed away at a private hospital here on Saturday.

He was 67. He is survived by two daughters.

Dua’s daughter Mallika said that the veteran journalist breathed his last around 4:30 pm. He will be cremated at Lodhi Road crematorium tomorrow afternoon.

Dua was undergoing treatment for liver infection at Parmanand Hospital before being shifted to ICU of Apollo Hospital, where he breathed his last.

He was also infected with Coronavirus in May and since then his condition continued to deteriorate.

His wife Chaina died of Covid-19 on 11th of June.

Warm and affectionate Dua belonged to the first generation of TV journalists in India. He worked with Doordarshan, NDTV and Sahara channels.

He was given Ramnath Goenka award in 1996 and he was first TV journalist to receive that honour.

In 2008, the then Manmohan Singh government honoured him with Padma Shri.

Dua had co-hosted the election analysis programme along with Prannoy Roy on Doordarshan for long.

He was born on March 11, 1954. His family migrated from Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan after partition.

He had graduated from Hansraj College in Delhi and did his MA in English from Delhi University.

He was also active with street theatre group.
