Imphal: Assam Rifles launched a comprehensive series of patriotic and community-oriented initiatives across Manipur, integrating skill development, women empowerment and youth engagement under the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and the 150th anniversary commemoration of Vande Mataram.
The outreach commenced at the Kinepna Women Empowerment Centre in Churachandpur District on 1 August 2026, where local women began hand-stitching Indian National Flags in various sizes. The initiative transformed traditional tailoring craftsmanship into a viable enterprise, providing local women with sustainable livelihood opportunities while producing handcrafted Tricolours for homes, educational institutions and public offices across the region.
Building upon this patriotic fervor, Assam Rifles organised synchronized events across Kakching, Chandel and Kamjong districts on 12 August 2026. In Kakching District, a spirited Tiranga Run brought together 100 Assam Rifles personnel and 450 students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching. The run was accompanied by an awareness session highlighting the history and unifying legacy of the National Flag during India’s freedom movement, culminating in a solemn salute to the Tricolour and a collective pledge toward national integrity.
Concurrently, a Tiranga Run took place at Modi in Chandel District to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram. Serving troops ran alongside local Agniveer and Territorial Army aspirants undergoing pre-recruitment training. The activity served a dual purpose of bolstering physical fitness and teamwork among young defence aspirants while reinforcing the spirit of national service and commitment.
In Kamjong District, a National Flag Distribution Drive was conducted at Kasong village. Assam Rifles personnel interacted with approximately 50 local residents, distributing National Flags and encouraging households to display the Tricolour proudly. By connecting remote border villages with nationwide patriotic celebrations, the ongoing initiatives continue to strengthen civil-military trust, foster self-reliance and deepen the spirit of unity throughout Manipur.
