Meghalaya positivity rate dips below 0.31%

The State also reported 11 new positive cases, which added up to 263 active cases, while the State recorded no COVID-19 related deaths.

Shillong: The daily COVID-19 positivity rate in Meghalaya has dipped below 0.31 per cent on Sunday as 25 more persons recovered from the viral infection, surging the number of recovered cases to 82,299 in the State which has so far registered 84,024 confirmed cases, including 1,462 deaths, health officials said.

The State also reported 11 new positive cases, which added up to 263 active cases, while the State recorded no COVID-19 related deaths.

The State recovery rate from COVID-19 infection has climbed up to 97.94 per cent, while the fatality rate stands at 1.73 per cent.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected on Sunday included eight in East Khasi Hills district, two in West Garo Hills district and one in East Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, with 22 more recoveries recorded on Monday, the number of active COVID–19 cases in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills district, which includes state capital Shillong, further declined to 189 as per official record.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the other districts too have been on a steady decline with 24 in West Garo Hills, 17 in West Khasi Hills, 15 in Ri-Bhoi, eight in East Garo Hills, four each in East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills and one each in South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills, while the South West Khasi Hills and North Garo Hills had no case, the health official said.

Of the 11,76,786 persons tested for Covid-19 across the state till Sunday afternoon, 10,92,762 were tested negative for the virus.
On the other hand, 32,081 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 28,523 have been administered with the second dose, 96,967 front-line workers have got the first jab and 81,585 have taken the second shot, 9,98,331 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 6,14,037 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose in the state till date, health officials said.
