State Wushu Players felicitated by Minister Rajen

Stating that there are reports of disagreements between members of sports organisations of the state, Minister Rajen said, “this is an unfortunate thing and must be stopped”.

Imphal: Education Minister S Rajen Singh has said that sports can be a challenging career. Minister was speaking as chief guest at the reception ceremony of Wushu players of Manipur, who participated in the 20th Jr. National Wushu (Boys/Girls) Championship held at Lovely Professional University, Punjab from October 20-25, 2021. The ceremony was organised by IPSA.

Rajen said that sportspersons of the state have popularised the state at the national and international arenas. Manipur is considered a powerhouse of sports in India. The state has produced many talented players who brought laurels to the state and the nation as well. We are proud of our sports stars, he added.

Minister further stated that the government has initiated many welfare schemes for our players. Many successful players have been inducted to suitable posts in the state government departments. M.C. Mary Kom has been nominated to Rajya Sabha as an honour for her achievement feat in the field of sports.

Stating that there are reports of disagreements between members of sports organisations of the state, Minister Rajen said, “this is an unfortunate thing and must be stopped”. Understanding amongst the office bearers and members of sports associations should be built. They should work in the interest of the players, he added.

President, IPSA T Birjit attended the occasion as president, prominent sportspersons of the state, officials from YAS & SAI, leaders of CSOs and others also attended the occasion.

It may be mentioned that Manipur won 25-Gold, 19-Silver and 15-Bronz Medals during the recently concluded 20th Jr. National Wushu (Boys/Girls) Championship. Manipur was also declared the Team Champion of the tournament.
