Thane: Maharashtra Navnirman Rajya Parivahan Kamgar Sena-an affiliate of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS on Sunday sought a CBI probe into the 29 alleged suicidal deaths of MSRTC employees.

Addressing a press conference here, Kamgar Sena President Hari Mali averred, “MSRTC is facing heavy financial strains while its employees are working with reduced salaries. The Corporation is considered to be the lifeline of the state. Despite all odds, the employees have served the citizens in the best possible manner.”

“A total of 29 employees of the MSRTC have committed suicide so far for reasons said to be a financial crisis. Several political parties are making an issue out of it and blaming the present government when they themselves have not done anything when they were in power,” he curtly remarked.

He told, “To remove the doubts in the minds of the MSRTC employees, I have penned a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, asking him to order a CBI probe into the deaths. I have also urged to announce due to compensation to the family of those who died.”

The probe demand comes amid the ongoing statewide MSRTC strike which started on October 27.
